Choices of Louisiana, Inc acknowledges the importance of health care delivery to the women and children of our state. Choices’ recognizes the special needs of pregnant women and their children who are engaged in our treatment program. MCHCS as a separate tract of services will encourage and ensure that pregnant women who want treatment for their opiate addiction will receive specialized, comprehensive health care that addresses their special needs.
The goal of MCHCS is not only to identify and provide needed health care for a very important segment of our community, but also to provide follow-up outcomes monitoring of healthcare needs of women and children and will be used in the development of additional services to promote and to increase the health of women and children of Louisiana.
Of note is the need to educate our community as to the best accepted practices in the delivery of health care to pregnant women and their newborns who are engaged in treatment programs for opiate addiction. MCHCS will also function as a resource to provide information to various agencies in our State in order to increase public awareness of opiate addiction and the treatment of the opiate addiction.
