Choices of Louisiana is a private, outpatient center located in Alexandria, Northshore, and Laplace, La. The outpatient facility serves patients who are dependent on heroin, OxyContin, and other schedule II narcotics. The facility has highly-trained professional staff that is committed to the well being of the patient and the community. Choices requires the patient to present with physical symptoms of mild withdrawals from narcotics, one year of documented physical dependency to narcotics, and evidence that they have the ability to pay for services.
All three locations of Choices of Louisiana are approved by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which is a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This administration oversees operations of rehabilitation facilities and their efforts to provide quality care for the prevention and treatment of substance abuse. SAMHSA also plays a large role in keeping costs down to the taxpayer regarding services provided for addiction and mental health by making communities aware of health concerns and how to take action against them.
The clinics have received the highest level of accreditation of three-years from the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This accreditation has been earned every three years consecutively since CARF’s implementation in 2002. The sole purpose of CARF is to provide guidelines and standards for treatment facilities and care provided in the field of human services on a worldwide scale.
In 2010, Choices of Louisiana was honored to be the Louisiana Addiction Service Provider of the Year, as deemed by the Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers, Inc. (LASACT). This award was given to the company at the state conference in July 2010 held in Baton Rouge, La. This association is the State’s leader in advocacy for patient’s rights, education, and rehabilitation services.
Among many other achievements in the field of substance abuse and mental health services, Choices of Louisiana, Inc. maintains its independence in Louisiana as one of the only treatment providers offering state-of-the-art medical services. The Administrative Director, JoAn Brown, was a nationally-recognized recipient of the Nyswander/Dole award issued to those people who have presented outstanding service in the field of opioid addiction.
